Ivan Jones (FN 60-64) sent in the following relating to our last issue. “Having just read the OSB magazine, I recall that I knew Alastair Carstairs both at St Nicolas prep school and St Bees although he was a little ahead of me.   The attached school photo from 1956 at St Nicolas shows him as an obvious stand-out. The boy next to him in civvies was a German exchange student. Also in this picture are three other boys destined for St Bees, Nelly Acons, Geoff Steven and me. Is that some sort of record?

My wife and I spent a pleasant evening with Molly Carstairs in the Beaumont Hotel in Hexham in April 2003 where we stayed overnight. The hotel was run by an OSB.  Our generation of OSBs certainly got around!”
